Polish Pottery Department

Our gift shop carries a beautiful selection of polish pottery. Each piece is traditionally handcrafted in Boleslawiec, Poland by skilled artists who continue to use the old world technique of creating hand stamped designs on each stoneware piece. The result is a piece of pottery that blends beauty and function. Special white clay is used; a mix of mineral substances that occur in sedimentary rocks and soils. It is soft when moist, but when fired at 2300 degrees Fahrenheit it becomes as hard as stone. This intense firing makes it resistant to chips and breakage, causes it to retain heat, have even temperature throughout, (making it exceptional for baking and serving), and makes each piece safe for the oven, microwave, dishwasher. Stop in and take a look at this functional, versatile and extremely beautiful pottery-you'll soon realize why it has such a loyal following!
